“Angels fly at light speed,…..
because they are servants of the Light.” ~Quoted in The Angels’ Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994
And light is exactly what was brought to the faces and hearts of the fans of the Blue Angels this past weekend as the team flew their final demonstration of the season at Pensacola’s Naval Air Station.
The team put on a spectacular show, with dips and turns and hair-raising maneuvers that had you wanting to hold your breath and cheer all at the same time. The crowd showed their support, strutting their stuff in t-shirts, ball caps, toys and the like and among them were the families that sat front row and center, waving, smiling and supporting their heroes.
The guys in the sky aren’t the only ones that make this a team however,…. there are a whole bunch of people on the ground that work very hard to make these shows possible and though they may not have a jet with their name on it, they are heroes in their own right.
It’s always a pleasure to photograph this team and though their routine is exactly that, I can’t see myself ever tiring of it.
