Dolphins and Sharks and Bait Balls OH MY!
One of these mornings I’m going to wake up, throw open the windows, a bird will land on my finger and sing me a tune. That’s what it feels like living in Florida some days, when a ball of bait fish tangles itself around my knee-deep legs as I exercise along the beach, wild dolphins romp in the distance and seeing a shark suddenly isn’t so unusual.
I can’t even begin to count the ways in which the oil spill crisis has affected this area: businesses closing, towns that were once filled with tourists only hold their ghosts, fisherman looking for any kind of work, pristine white sandy beaches now dotted with oil and a rainbow-like shimmer across the emerald waters which attaches to your skin the second you take a dip are only a few things to note……. In any case…despite how tragic this was, is and could continue to be for an unforeseeable length of time, it does warm the heart a bit to see nature surviving and I’m thankful to be able to report it firsthand.
